Innovative, precise, speedy work delivered on schedule—these traits mark my work on all projects. I have been a writer and editor for more than 25 years, with a career spanning jobs from music critic in Southern California, to advertising work in London, to editing positions in San Francisco and St. Petersburg, Russia. Since 2003, I have worked as a freelance writer and editor of content for Web sites, books, newspapers, magazines, and other media. My editing work continues to be wide ranging; my writing work has increasingly focused on food.

In the food realm, I enjoy pickling, preserving, sourdough baking, and generally making good food from scratch year-round. I am the author of The Complete Guide to Pickling: Pickle and Ferment Everything Your Garden or Market Has to Offer (Rockridge Press, 2020), The Pickled Picnic (Twice As Tasty, 2020), and TwiceAsTasty.com, a food blog focused on eating well year-round.

Each week, I write the Twice as Tasty food column for the Flathead Beacon. My writing has also appeared online for publications such as The Spruce Eats, Clean Plates, Fifth Season, and Greatist; in the 2020 Waggoner Cruising Guide; and in numerous local newspapers and magazines. I also teach cooking workshops and prepare food as a personal chef.

As an editor, I excel at everything from “big picture” and line editing (looking at an entire piece for flow, content, and tone) to the small details of copy editing and proofreading. I not only help you frame and structure your project but also catch holes in your material, fine-tune language, correct grammar and style, and generally help your writing flow smoothly. My writing experience enhances my editing, allowing me to quickly prepare pieces for publication. I am accustomed to working independently to produce the best possible results in the required time.
