I grew up with social media, so using platforms like Facebook and Snapchat is like second-nature to me. I have taken courses on social media marketing to bolster my work with non-profits and my work in the journalism community. I have the advantage of a combination of experiences with all different kinds of people about all sorts of issues, thanks to canvassing for presidential and senatorial campaigns, tutoring children through the DuBois Project, and majoring in creative writing at Oberlin College.
I know how to connect to people and express myself eloquently and effectively. I have used social media in a professional capacity for Cleveland Scene Magazine, Planned Parenthood, and Oberlin’s Plum Creek Review, its oldest arts and literary magazine. I have written articles and blog posts for Cleveland Scene and Oberlin’s student newspaper, The Review. As a layout editor and then editor-in-chief for Plum Creek, I have experience with Adobe Indesign and Photoshop, and I know how to market more creative content as well as educational content.
Finally, I have taken photos and video professionally for Oberlin’s Communications office, and I have interned at the community cable station in Burlington, Vermont, where my family lives. There, I learned to film footage with TV cameras and microphones, and to edit the footage and audio in iMovie.
